On Friday, Twitter CEO Elon Musk clapped back at Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey After the Senator claimed multiple parody accounts have been verified impersonating him. Musk gives a savage response.
Markey tweeted a 2 page letter, written to Musk himself explaining how a Washington Post reporter impersonated his account. The Senator complained of this possibility and asked the Twitter CEO many questions of how this is possible. This letter was paired with this caption.
“A @washingtonpost reporter was able to create a verified account impersonating me—I’m asking for answers from @elonmusk who is putting profits over people and his debt over stopping disinformation. Twitter must explain how this happened and how to prevent it from happening again.”

To this lengthy complaint, asking a dozen questions of this situation, the Tesla billionaire responded in a short, savage message, roasting the politician.
“Perhaps it is because your real account sounds like a parody?” Musk responded.
The Twitter verification system was widely scrutinized and was forced to be taken off the platform for a period of time to combat these parody accounts. Musk did release a statement to clarify how parody accounts would identify going forward to prevent this from happening.
Going forward, accounts engaged in parody must include “parody” in their name, not just in bio

This all came after Musk first attempt to combat these parody accounts in a thread of tweets saying,
“Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying “parody” will be permanently suspended
Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning.
This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue.” The tweets said.
Twitter usage is at an all-time high lol

Through much scrutiny, during Musk’s short tenure as “Chief Twit” as he called himself, Twitter use is at an all time high. The app is constantly going through changes which are receiving loud feedback across the board.
Musk knows the changes will continue so he tweeted: “Please note that Twitter will do lots of dumb things in coming months.
We will keep what works & change what doesn’t.”
