BREAKING: After Three Year Investigation New York AG Files Major Lawsuit Against Donald Trump Over Alleged Fraud

On Wednesday, the New York Attorney General announced the state was filing suit against former President Donald Trump, Trump Organization, and family members for a fraud case they believe spanned over a decade.

Attorney General Letitia James released the 200-page lawsuit detailing every aspect of the Trump’s dealings and seeking to bar them from real estate transactions for the next five years and seeking at least $250 million in penalties for allegedly widespread fraud involving false financial statements related to the company.

James said that over three years her office’s investigation interviewed 65 witnesses and reviewed millions of documents. She said the evidence showed that Trump submitted “more than 200 false and misleading asset valuations.”

In the James press release she stated, “For too long, powerful, wealthy people in this country have operated as if the rules do not apply to them. Donald Trump stands out as among the most egregious examples of this misconduct.”

“With the help of his children and senior executives at the Trump Organization, Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself and cheat the system. In fact, the very foundation of his purported net worth is rooted in incredible fraud and illegality.

“Mr. Trump thought he could get away with the art of the steal, but today, that conduct ends. There are not two sets of laws for people in this country; we must hold former presidents to the same standards as everyday Americans. I will continue to ensure that no one is able to evade the law, because no one is above it,” she concluded.

Trump attorney Alina Habba rejected these allegations. “Today’s filing is neither focused on the facts nor the law — rather, it is solely focused on advancing the Attorney General’s political agenda,” Habba said in a statement.

“It is abundantly clear that the Attorney General’s Office has exceeded its statutory authority by prying into transactions where absolutely no wrongdoing has taken place. We are confident that our judicial system will not stand for this unchecked abuse of authority, and we look forward to defending our client against each and every one of the Attorney General’s meritless claims.”
