Former President Donald Trump has been the target of leftist attacks since he announced his campaign for the 2016 Presidential election, but one of the most serious actions against Trump came last year when he was banned from most major social media platforms following the January 6th, 2021 Capitol riots. One of the most interesting things about his banning was the major figures in politics who attempted to influence the decision.
On the platform that made his social media game famous, Twitter, Trump was recently reinstated as Elon Musk is making big changes to the platform and one of them being undoing wrongful bans by previous management.
While Trump has yet to heavily use the platform since his reinstatement, the release of “The Twitter Files” by Musk has revealed just how targeted their attack of President Trump was and who had influence over it.
A report from Fox News revealed internal Twitter documents suggest former First Lady Michelle Obama was one of the top figures calling for action against Trump.
The day after the January 6th Capitol riots, Michelle Obama issued a statement via Twitter condemning Trump and suggesting he should be removed from the platform.
“Now is the time for Silicon Valley companies to stop enabling this monstrous behavior—and go even further than they have already by permanently banning this man from their platforms and putting in place policies to prevent their technologies from being used by the nation’s leaders to fuel insurrection,” the statement read.
It continued, “And if we have any hope of improving this nation, now is the time for swift and serious consequences for the failure of leadership that led to yesterday’s shame.”

For years, Twitter has been a heavily liberal platform as “In 2018, 2020, and 2022, 96%, 98%, & 99% of Twitter staff’s political donations went to Democrats,” Twitter Files journalist Michael Shellenberger reported.
While Trump was in office in 2017, former Twitter Head of Trust and Safety Yoel Roth tweeted “that there were ‘ACTUAL NAZIS IN THE WHITE HOUSE,’” Shellenberger further reported.
