The House Oversight Committee’s new Republican Chairman Rep. James Comer of Kentucky has indicated that the committee is set to launch investigations into the Biden family finances and the President’s classified documents scandal along with his son Hunter’s international business dealings.
Rep. Comer is aiming at investigating foreign donations funneled into the University of Pennsylvania that housed the Penn Biden Center for “Diplomacy and Global Engagement” the property that housed the first set of classified documents discovered from Biden’s time as the Vice President in the Obama administration.
Comer has further indicated that his committee will be seeking answers on the “anonymous” donors who paid for Hunter Biden’s artwork at the New York exhibition.
“We’re trying to trace the money,” Comer said in a statement to Washington Examiner. “We’ll be looking at bank statements. We’ll be looking at bank violations. That’s the next phase of our investigation because we’re trying to figure out who these anonymous sources are that are sending so much money to the Biden family schemes — the Biden Center for Diplomacy and Hunter Biden’s artwork.”
As part of his first moves after taking the committee chair, Comer had sent out at least six requests seeking information on the classified documents and their potential connection with Hunter Biden. He has hinted that the committee will be conducting an investigation after allegations that Hunter Biden had access to the classified documents that were later found at Joe Biden’s private residence in Delaware.
"This is an investigation of Joe Biden…and why he LIED to the American people about his knowledge and participation in his family's international business schemes," says Rep. @JamesComer.

The Oversight Committee requests were made to the White House, and the University of Pennsylvania Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, among others. Comer has hinted at more requests in the coming weeks.
Rep. Comer has further indicated that he will use his subpoena power to get testimonies from various suspects and documents if his requests are not voluntarily complied with.
“If there’s nothing there, then the president should be more than willing to cooperate with House Republicans because he could make us look bad,” Comer said in reference to Joe Biden’s recent comments where he suggested that there was “nothing” to investigate.
A reporter asks Biden a question about the classified docs: "What quite frankly bugs me is we have a serious problem here and the American people don't quite understand why you don't ask me questions about that" before adding he has "no regrets" about how he handled the docs. pic.twitter.com/rkV8eOiaPq

The first set of classified documents at the Penn Biden Center has raised concerns regarding the think tank’s funding from Chinese government-affiliated institutions
“What are they trying to peddle? What information does China want?” Comer asked.
