A suspected carjacker was killed and two women sustained injuries in the streets of Chicago as the victim drove into a support column of a CTA elevated train line in the loop Wednesday.
Officials have now confirmed, 18-year-old Elijah Treadwell of Uptown along with a 16-year-old female accomplice attempted to carjack a woman in a car around 5:42 pm when the driver accelerated the vehicle into a beam supporting the L tracks.

All three individuals involved in the crash were stuck in the wreckage when Chicago Fire Department showed up on the scene after extraction, and on the way to hospitals, Treadwell was pronounced dead at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Both the victim and the minor accomplice sustained injuries and have been stabilized as of publishing this article. After surgery, Treadwell’s 16-year accomplice was taken into custody by Chicago police after being treated at the hospital.
