‘Go Check Out The Scoreboard’; Gov. Ron DeSantis Responds to Trump’s Latest Attack on His Leadership of Florida

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis held his first press conference in Okaloosa County today after securing a massive victory in the midterm election.

The press conference was held to announce his latest initiatives to support Florida’s military families but the sunshine state Governor was asked to respond to recent comments made by Former President Donald Trump attacking the Governor and claiming that he won “more votes in 2020” than DeSantis received in the latest midterm.

“One of the things I have learned in this job, when you’re leading, when you’re getting things done, you take incoming fire. That’s just the nature of it,” DeSantis said responding to the question.

Gov. DeSantis further said that he doesn’t think that any other Governor was attacked more than he was in his first term by the “corporate media.”

“All of that is just noise, and really what matters is, are you leading? Are you getting in front of issues? Are you delivering results for people, and are you standing up for folks? And if you do that, none of that stuff matters,” the Governor added.

“At the end of the day, I would just tell people to go check out the scoreboard from last Tuesday night,” he continued. “The fact of the matter is, it was the greatest Republican victory in the history of the state of Florida.”

He further pointed out the victories secured by other Republican candidates statewide in Florida.

“We swept in supermajorities in the Florida legislature,” he said. “We have 85 Republicans out of 120 in our state House. We’ve never had that many before. We have 28 senators out of 40 that are Republicans.”

The Governor also compared the Republican victories in Florida to other election results nationwide amid speculations of a “red wave.”

“It was a hugely underwhelming, disappointing performance, especially given [President Joe] Biden’s policies are overwhelmingly unpopular. People think the country is going in the wrong direction,” he said. “When that happens, they almost always want to choose to correct that. Yet in a lot of these states, they didn’t do that.”
