In the past few years, society has seen many people canceled for voicing their beliefs.

Star Yellowstone actor, Dean McDonough, was ostracized from Hollywood for voicing his religious beliefs. An action that many would see as a detriment to their career, but McDonough took it in stride and it empowered him to launch his own film company.

McDonough was most recently popularized for his role as Malcolm Beck in the hit show Yellowstone and his incredible portrayal of the villainous Beck couldn’t be hindered by his previous history of being estranged due to his religious nature.

The Yellowstone actor spoke about his blacklisting on the Inside of You podcast detailing that he was ostracized from certain roles due to his religious beliefs and refusal to partake in certain scenes.

“I won’t mention the Lord’s name in vain, and then I won’t kiss another woman. S-x scenes aren’t in it for me. And I think, gosh, there’s enough s-x scenes out there, and me being in my fifties I’m not sure if anyone wants to see me doing that stuff anyway, but it’s a comfort level. I’m not very comfortable doing that,” McDonough said in January of 2020.

After being canceled from the industry, McDonough spoke about how he questioned his faith in God, a thought that made him realize his relationship with the lord.

“I remember falling to my knees and saying, ‘God, why have you forgotten about me? Why am I being punished so much?’. And as soon as those words came out of my mouth, I realized what self-absorbed questions those were,” McDonough said.

“God has given me so much. We all experience challenges in our lives. I should be grateful – and thankful – for all the blessings I’m given,” he continued.

McDonough is known for acting as a villain and he isn’t shy about it. He believes that the roles take him out of his comfort zone and allow him to do what he does best.

“I guess that’s probably why I play so many villainous characters, because I love acting, and I’m really good at it. It’s a God-given talent, so for me to have a career, I have to figure out creatively and smartly and wisely how I can keep doing what I do,” McDonough said.
