Gov. DeSantis Announces Investigation Into Drag Show Where Children Were Exposed to ‘Sexualized Acts’

Ron DeSantis recently announced he is going to launch an investigation into the recent controversial performance coined “A Drag Queen Christmas,” that was held at the Broward Center of the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The reasoning for the investigation was because there were children at the event and people believe they were exposed to “sexualized acts,” during the drag queen performance.

According to local activist Chris Nelson, the Show” A Drag Queen Christmas” displayed “sexually explicit” to attendees, including a handful of minors, several he says looked as young as 10 years old.

Local Fort Lauderdale activist, Chris Nelson, reported his attendance to the drag show to The Floridian Press.

“Nelson told The Floridian that the show and its “actors” stuck to the script of showing simulated sex acts to minors, even acting out that famous childhood story, “Screwdolph the Red-Nippled Reindeer,” the report stated.

Nelson himself tweeted a video of his interaction with one of the show’s hosts saying “After noticing MULTIPLE children in the audience at the explicit Drag Queen Christmas in Ft Lauderdale I called out performer Nina West for inviting and allowing children to come to her sexually explicit shows!”

Following this interaction, Nelson was told to leave the show by staff.

Ron DeSantis Press Secretary Bryan Griffin tweeted a statement about the drag queen show.

“The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is aware of multiple complaints about a sexually explicit performance marketed to children held in Fort Lauderdale on December 26th. The Department is actively investigating this matter, including video footage and photographs from the event. DPBR will, like in other cases, take action.

“Exposing children to sexually explicit activity is a crime in Florida, and such action violates the Department’s licensing standards for operating a business and holding a liquor license.

“The Department frequently conducts investigations into these matters upon tips provided by the public, and we thank the public for continuing to bring attention to these incidents. Investigations of such allegations will remain a priority for the Department and, indeed, are ongoing.”
