In the 2022 November midterms Sarah Huckabee Sanders achieved something incredible by becoming the first female Governor of Arkansas.

Sanders made history with this midterm victory as her father, Mike Huckabee, was the Governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007. This makes them the first father daughter duo to govern the same state in a 20 year stretch.

Prior to her inauguration the former White House Press Secretary did an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital where she detailed the importance of her and her father’ successes.

“It is a pretty humbling thing. As far as we know, we’ll be the first-ever father-daughter pair anywhere in the country, and so, you know, that is a pretty historic and amazing thing,” she said.

Of course Sanders is biased towards her father, but based on action she said Mike was “certainly the best governor we’ve ever had here in Arkansas and one of the best governors we’ve ever had in the country.”

“He’s set the bar high, and I have very big shoes to fill,” Sanders said, going on to thank her father saying there’s “nobody more hopeful and more helpful in helping me achieve my goals.”

As a mother, Sanders knows the importance of education and stated this during her interview.

“I’ve made no secret that the biggest priority I have for this session is a large-scale education reform package. I am really excited to work with our legislative partners to bring about education reform that, I think, will have a generational impact on our state,” Sanders said.

“I am living it every day with a fifth-grader, a third-grader and a first-grader, and I feel the impact of education and what it means and what it means to each kid.” Sanders continued saying “all learn differently and all need different things.”

“Making sure that we are providing the best pathway and best opportunities to every student in the state is going to be a big priority and going to be very important as we move forward in this session,” Sanders claimed.
