Formerly a top-advisor to former President Donald Trump, Steve Bannon recently was sentenced to four months in prison and ordered to pay a fine of $6,500 by a federal judge for refusing to appear after being served with a congressional subpoena.
Following the bad news, Bannon got a breath of good as it was decided he could remain free while his sentence is appealed.
“Judge Nichols said he agreed that Bannon should not have to serve a sentence while he appeals his case, which Bannon has indicated he will do,” ABC News reported.
The ABC News report added that when “Speaking to reporters outside the courthouse after receiving his four-month sentence, Bannon said he respected the judge’s decision. But he was defiant about his conviction, and his attorney confirmed he would be filing a notice of appeal.”
Following the judge’s decision, Bannon received immense support from figures in politics and the media.
Bannon’s daughter Maureen tweeted, “To the world my dad is one person, but to me he is the world. My dad has always stood with me and I will always stand with him. I repeat, I WILL ALWAYS STAND WITH STEVE BANNON!”
