In most states in America a person has the right to defend themselves and their property if they are being threatened.
This was the case with 31 year-old Washington state resident Jeremy Smith who was forced to take matters into his own hands when two men kicked in his back door attempting to rob his home.
Smith called the local police at 4:20 AM after realizing the situation, but by the time the police arrived to halt the burglary one of the assailants was found dead as Smith armed himself and fired at the two robbers defending himself, his property and his family.
When asked about the encounter Smith said “I have the right to carry, and I have the right to protect myself, and I have the right to protect my property.”
“I don’t know what they wanted out of this house, I don’t know what they were doing, but I don’t care.”
“I took action upon that, which was, unfortunately taking one life, and the other one ran,” Smith concluded.
