This year former President Donald Trump has been the target of investigations, and FBI raid and countless other attacks by the left but he recently received great news in an ongoing trial regarding his tax returns.
While Trump was still in office in 2019 the House Ways and Means Committee requested six years worth of tax returns from Donald Trump.
Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts secured Trump a massive victory granting a temporary block on request for the former President’s tax returns after Trump and his legal team filed a request.
“Upon consideration of the application of counsel for the applicants, it is so ordered that the mandate of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, case No. 21-5289, is hereby stayed pending further order of the undersigned or of the court,” the decision stated, giving the House Ways and Means Committee until Thursday, November 10th at noon to respond.
Fox News reported that “In 2021, the Justice Department said Congress should be able to review the records, a decision Trump and his legal team have appealed.
“U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden ruled last December that the Treasury Department should turn the tax returns over to the congressional committee, and a three-judge panel on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed with that ruling in August,” the article continued.
Massachusetts Democrat and Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Richard Neal, says that the former President is trying to “delay the inevitable.”
“We’ve waited long enough—we must begin our oversight of the IRS’s mandatory presidential audit program as soon as possible,” said Neal in a statement.
Along with this situation, Donald Trump also recently received a subpoena from the January 6th Committee and it has yet to be said whether he will comply with it or not.
One of the only Republicans on the Jan. 6th Committee, RINO Liz Cheney, said “We are anticipating that the former president will understand his legal obligation and will comply with the subpoena.”
The answer is uncertain at the moment as many of us know Donald Trump is not one to shy away from a battle that he thinks he can win.
With midterm elections closely approaching and the deadline for Trump’s appearance before the Jan. 6th Committee, November is likely to be an exciting month in the world of politics.
