On Friday, Former President Trump made resounding statements of a successful midterm with the main focus being the future ousting of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, “Pelosi is gone” Trump declared on social media.
“WE WON! Pelosi is gone, we take Congress and, if we can stop their very obvious CHEATING, will also take the Senate. Big Victory, don’t be stupid. Stand on the rooftops and shout it out loud!” Trump said.
Trump has spent the past days gleaming over Republican voter turnout and questions the legitimacy of certain elections such as Arizona Kari Lake election. The former President applauded his own record this midterm with 174 successful endorsements.
“174 wins and 9 losses, A GREAT EVENING,” Trump said. “And the Fake News Media, together with their partner in crime, the Democrats, are doing everything possible to play it down.”
These statistics show the support Trump still has in the party both with lawmakers and voters. This will be powerful if Trump does formally announce his bid for the 2024 Presidential Election this Tuesday.
As for replacing Pelosi as House Speaker, many scenarios have been rumored to occur in the coming weeks.
San Francisco candidates are preparing to replace Pelosi in the likely scenario fully she steps down after the Republican midterm victory. This would end her 35-year reign in the city’s district.
Breitbart has reported that the GOP and Democrats are working jointly to find a new speaker as Republicans are divided amongst each other on the vote between Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and new challenger Rep. Andy Biggs.
The final thought came from Maryland Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin as he went on to CBS’s “Face The Nation” to voice his fears that the Republicans in the House will vote for Former President Donald Trump as Speaker once they have the majority.
“One potential candidate whose name has been floated is Donald Trump himself, because the Speaker of the House does not have to be a member of the House. And they are talking about putting Trump right there,” Raskin said.
Raskin was then challenged on this possibility by host Margaret Brennan, to which he responded “Well, they talk about it repeatedly, and if Trump decided he wanted to do it, it would pose a profound problem for their party because they refuse to do the right thing.”
“And they might just vote for Trump, when they, you know, take the roll call for speaker. So, we know that the hard right Freedom Caucus people are in search of another candidate and one potential candidate whose name has been floated is Donald Trump himself, because the speaker of the House does not have to be a member of the House. And they are talking about putting Trump right there,” Raskin continued.
