On Wednesday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) challenged White House medical adviser Anthony Fauci about his honesty and former comments about vaccinations, as Paul tried to prove Fauci’s opinions he has voiced to the public should not be trusted.
During a hearing on the Biden Administration’s handling of the monkeypox virus, the Senator took the opportunity to ask whether children who were previously infected with COVID-19 need to be vaccinated.
Paul then played a C-SPAN clip from 2004 of Dr. Fauci claiming that if you get the flu you do not need the flu shot, as well as saying “because the best vaccination is to get infected yourself.”
Paul took this and attacked Fauci’s current policy hopes of child vaccinations saying “80% of children have had Covid” and if they are supposed to get vaccinated once they’ve had the disease, why support child vaccinations?
Fauci continued to take criticism from Paul as the Senator continued saying “You are ignoring the science that you talked about here,” referring to the video.
The discussion then shifts to a question Republican Senators have been asking the Doctor for months, “We’ve been asking you, and you refuse to answer, whether anyone on the vaccine committees gets royalties from the pharmaceutical companies. I asked you last time, and what was your response? We don’t have to tell you,” Paul said.
Sentiments from frustrated GOP congressmen and women all have a similar message surrounding Dr. Fauci and others like Hunter Biden, just wait for November.
Paul expressed the same feelings stating, “I asked you last time, and what was your response? We don’t have to tell you. We’ve demanded them through the Freedom of Information Act. And what have you said?”
“We’re not going to tell you. But I tell you this, when we get in charge, we’re going to change the rules and you will have to divulge where you get your royalties from, from what companies, and if anybody in the committee has a conflict of interest, we’re going to learn about it. I promise you that.”
“They are not my committees,” Fauci simply responded, without addressing Paul’s claim that Fauci himself has not been transparent.
Fauci, the top U.S. infectious disease official, announced recently he is stepping down in December after 54 years of public service, but Republicans claim that will not save him.
