Soros Backed Non Profit Possibly Illegally Using Federal Grant Money, House Reps Complain

On Friday, two Republican members of congress demanded the Biden administration audit a George Soros-funded nonprofit group after there have been accusations of the group illegally using federal grant money.

The Company is Alianza Americas, which claims to be an immigration advocacy group most notably filing a lawsuit against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) over his flying illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.

Alianza Americans have received $8.5 million in grant money from Biden offices such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Health Resources and Services Administration.

Former Health and Human Services chief of staff Brian Harrison was the first to express concern for the use of these funds, writing a letter himself demanding attention be brought to the issue.

“I have continued to monitor actions taken by the Department and am deeply concerned that taxpayer dollars, in the guise of federal grants from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), are being used to fund lobbying activities and contacts in the United States and foreign jurisdictions and to promote illegal immigration into the United States,” Harrison wrote.

As news of another Soros-backed group in the news, the attention was brought to Texas GOP Reps. Chip Roy and Beth Van Duyne who also wrote a letter demanding an investigation:

“Dear Inspector General Grimm, We write to express serious concerns about blatant ignorance or gross negligence in the awarding of grants through the Department of Health and Human Services to the nonprofit, Alianza Americas.

Over the past two years, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Health  Resources and Services Administration have awarded $8.5 million to Alianza Americas. Despite statutory and regulatory restrictions on lobbying for recipients of federal funding from all federal agencies (P. L. 101-121 ), forms submitted to the Internal Revenue Service by Alianza Americas appear to show activity in direct violation of these restrictions.

As members of Congress, we take seriously our roles of ensuring taxpayer dollars are used wisely and within the confines of the law, and we are sure you share that goal. As such, we are requesting a review of all grants received by Alianza Americas as well as the publicly disclosed actions taken by Alianza Americans that would be in violation of the law and federal regulations.

We appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your response. If you have any questions please contact Ryan Dilworth at ryan.dilworth@mail.house.gov or at (202) 225-6605.”
