Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts does not respect the criticisms his court has recently been receiving.
Vice President Kamala Harris claims to call the Justices who voted to overturn Roe v Wade are activists rather than justices.
“If the court doesn’t retain its legitimate function of interpreting the Constitution, I’m not sure who would take up that mantle. You don’t want the political branches telling you what the law is, and you don’t want public opinion to be the guide about what the appropriate decision is,” Chief Justice Roberts said Friday, according to The Guardian.
Harris appeared on NBC’s “Meet The Press” for an interview with host Chuck Todd.
“How much confidence do you have in the Supreme Court?” Todd asked.
“I think this is an activist court,” she replied.
“What does that mean?” He followed up.
“It means that we had an established right for almost half a century, which is the right of women to make decisions about their own body as an extension of what we have decided to be, the privacy rights to which all people are entitled. And this court took that constitutional right away, and we are suffering as a nation because of it,” she explained.
“That causes me great concern about the integrity of the court overall. Especially as someone who my life was inspired by people like Thurgood Marshall, and by the work on that court of Earl Warren to bring an unanimous court to pass Brown v. Board of Education,” Harris added.
“This is the court that on once sat Earl Warren, Thurgood Marshall and Sandra Day O’Connor. It’s a very different court,” Vice President Harris said.

Former Democratic senator and NBC News analyst Claire McCaskill slammed Chief Justice John Roberts on Sunday and said he was “so out of Touch” following the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision.
“He’s so so out of touch. I mean really, this interview shows why the numbers for the Supreme Court are so bad. For him to say something like that, he just doesn’t it. You don’t take away a right that’s been around for 50 years and you don’t have a party go to extremes of trying to make sure rape victims have to have forced birth. You don’t do that and not have it splash back on the Supreme Court. They all said they respected precedent when they were confirmed. I hear them, America heard them. Clearly they didn’t and you can feel me getting angry at John Roberts right now because he knows better when he says that stuff,” McCaskill said.
