On Friday, Rep Jim Jordan said his House Judiciary Committee is requesting the appearance of all major voices in the Department of Justice to answer for their politicization. Jordan named Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray as his main focus.
With the republicans controlling the House after this midterm election, Jordan is slated to officially be chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. He spoke with Fox News to explain his panel’s investigation into the DOJ’s transgressions.
“You cannot have a political Justice Department and also have a free society, a free country,” Jordan says. “There is even a purging, some of these guys have said. They are trying to get rid of folks in the FBI that have conservative beliefs.”
Jordan also wrote letters to those he is requesting a committee appearance from, in which he wrote:
“The congressional oversight power, rooted in Article I of the Constitution, is ‘broad and indispensable’. This authority ‘encompasses inquiries into the administration of existing laws, studies of proposed law, and surveys of defects in our societal, economic, or political system for the purpose of enabling the Congress to remedy them.'”
33 Senate Republicans joined together demanding Attorney General Merrick Garland assign a special counsel to support the investigation’s prosecutor Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss and assure that the investigation is conducted without political interference.
Senator Josh Hawley outlined how the Department abused its power in the raid of Mar A Lago and their defense of Hunter Biden over the recent months.
“I can just tell you, from the whistleblowers that I’ve seen from Senator Grassley who have come to him about how the FBI is being abused, how this Justice Department is using it to go after Trump, how they’re using it to try to shield Hunter Biden, we’ve had whistleblowers come forward and say the Biden administration lied about the Afghan refugees that we actually have hundreds, hundreds of potential terrorists in this country because they didn’t vet the Afghan refugees, they brought them into the country and just released them,” Hawley told Sean Hannity.
“We’ve had — we’ve had whistleblowers come forward about how DHS lied about the disinformation board. It’s across the board, Sean. I mean, we’re seeing this in all the different agencies and the consistent theme is the Biden people are abusing the law, they’re abusing the procedures and they’re doing it to go after their political opponents. They’re doing it to try to cover their own tracks and it’s wrong,” he continued.
Fox outlined that “Jordan notified the attorney general that he plans to call him, Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division General Kenneth Polite Jr., Assistant Attorney General for the National Security Division Matthew Olsen, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Kristen Clarke, Assistant Attorney General for the Antitrust Division Jonathan Kanter and Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division Brian Boynton for testimony in either hearings or transcribed interviews.”
Jordan also explained his plans to request an equally extensive list of FBI members, starting with Director Wray.
