The January 6th committee has formally retracted their subpoena of former President Donald Trump as their investigation and the committee entirely, is coming to an end.

The committee leaders released a statement saying, “In light of the imminent end of our investigation, the Select Committee can no longer pursue the specific information covered by the subpoena.”

“Therefore, through this letter, I hereby formally withdraw the subpoena issued to former President Trump, and notify you that he is no longer obligated to comply or produce records in response to said subpoena,” they continued.

Trump responded to this announcement on Truth Social, resounding this news as an overwhelming victory for his case against the charges recommended against him.

“Was just advised that the Unselect Committee of political Thugs has withdrawn the Subpoena of me concerning the January 6th Protest of the CROOKED 2020 Presidential Election.”

“They probably did so because they knew I did nothing wrong, or they were about to lose in Court. Perhaps the FBI’s involvement in RIGGING the Election played into their decision. In any event, the Subpoena is DEAD!”

The Jan 6th committee’s final act was a recommendation that the Department of Justice (DOJ) charge former President Donald Trump with at least four counts of attempting to overturn the 2020 Presidential election.

The specific charges recommended by the DOJ were charges of conspiracy to make a false statement, obstruction of an official proceeding, inciting an insurrection, and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

The referral also included multiple House members who did not comply with their subpoenas citing House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, and Andy Biggs of Arizona.

Now that their subpoena requests have been dropped, these proposed charges are in limbo. The Jan. 6th recommendation doesn’t hold much legal weight but did provide massive amounts of evidence and statements from prominent figures involved in the incident.

Donald Trump’s announcement of his reelection run will be dependent on whether the DOJ looks to pursue any of the charges involved. Until the DOJ announces anything further, this signals the end of January 6th news.
