The current and former heads of Twitter, Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey, recently had an extensive back and-forth debating whether or not the company was guilty of child exploitations years ago.
Musk spearheaded the disbandment of the past Trust and Safety Council at Twitter. Before Musk could formally dissolve the group, many members resigned from their positions which lead the Tesla billionaire to respond publicly.
When former member Anne Collier announced her recusal on Twitter with a couple of her coworkers, a Twitter user responded by saying “You all belong in Jail,” citing reports of child exploitation on the platform.
To this tweet, Musk responded by saying, “It is a crime that they refused to take action on child exploitation for years!”
Founder of Twitter Dorsey took issue with this claim responding with the simple “this is false.”
Musk then backed his prior tweet with his own evidence saying, “No, it is not. When Ella Irwin, who now runs Trust & Safety, joined Twitter earlier this year, almost no one was working on child safety. She raised this with Ned & Parag, but they rejected her staffing request. I made it top priority immediately.”
Dorsey then responded “I don’t know what happened in past year. But to say we didn’t take action for years isn’t true. You can make all my emails public to verify. Company took away my access to email or I would.”
This entire discussion surrounds a lawsuit from early 2021 where a Florida teen reported that videos of her performing sex acts were on the platform when she was only 13. She filed multiple complaints to the app but they went unheard.
Recently Musk changed the law firm, Silicon Valley-founded law firm Cooley, associated with the case, after disapproving of that team for years. It was announced the firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan would be taking over the case.
Dorsey has been on the back foot in his defense against Musk’s constant surveying of his former place of work. The “Twitter Files” has forced many involved under the prior leadership to step backward in the face of public outcry.
The “Twitter Files” are constantly rolling out new information exposing how the leadership before Musk’s tenure was ill-informed on the company’s miss handling of similar situations to this accused lawsuit.
As the lawsuit comes to a possible settlement more information will be updated on Raging Americans.
