On Wednesday, Twitter’s Former Head of Global Trust and Safety spewed his frustration about Elon Musk’s exposing of the company. “The Twitter Files”, were exposed by Musk and his team, revealing how the company decided to censor the Hunter Biden Laptop story.
Yoel Roth is that formal official that has been very vocal against his former boss. Roth’s post-Twitter career has been making statements against the platform’s safety and management with him gone.
“People need to very thoughtfully and carefully weigh the costs and benefits of using Twitter, given their personal security situation, and that’s a terrifying prospect to have to come to terms with, especially for many people who have spent the better part of a decade building a platform and an audience and a community on Twitter,” Roth said on All Things Considered with host Ari Shapiro.

Recently Roth’s frustration has come with the exposure of his and his coworkers’ internal communications debating how they should censor the Hunter Biden Laptop story from the New York Post.
The emails exposed Roth’s team, making a private decision to suppress and delete political posts they didn’t like. Included in the emails were Twitter members even questioning if what they were doing was legal.

Roth’s defense was ignorance. “We didn’t know what to believe, we didn’t know what was true, there was smoke — and ultimately for me, it didn’t reach a place where I was comfortable removing this content from Twitter,” Roth said.
This reporting is infectious, more stories have been teased by Musk and will be coming out. Matt Taibbi, the substack journalist who exposed this with Musk, has announced there are more releases to come and this is only the beginning.
“It’s been a whirlwind 96 hours for me, too. There is much more to come, including answers to questions about issues like shadow-banning, boosting, follower counts, the fate of various individual accounts, and more. These issues are not limited to the political right,” Taibbi said.
