CNN has taken a sharp turn away from biased media reporting under new CEO Chris Licht who wants to make the organization produce more centrist news as the network’s views have been on a decline for some time now.
One of the changes Licht has made to achieve this is firing Brian Stelter from his post as host of CNN’s Reliable Sources. Since his departure Stelter has taken a position with Harvard.
Not a complete removal from the network but a noticeable shift in it’s narrative, Don Lemon, host of the primetime show Don Lemon Tonight, was recently denounced from the slot and moved to a lesser viewed show on CNN.
In his final show Lemon was brought to tears signing off from the primetime slot showing a montage of clips from his tenure hosting the show.
In his exit message Lemon said, “I was not always perfect, because no one is perfect. There are immense pressures that come with this job and in particular this time slot at, 10:00 o’clock, when people are going to bed. So sometimes all I could do – I am going to be honest with you – was just smile and just get to the commercial break sometimes.”
“Sometimes, it was exhausting. Because some of the things that we discuss here are so personal and so consuming, all-consuming. So, I hope I made you proud. And I thank you for tuning in all these years. And I hope that you are going to join me in the morning.”
“So I will simply say good night, and I will see you soon.”
“All right, so I’m going to leave, and I am going to go upstairs.”
“Bye,” Lemon concluded, struggling not to cry.
That's a wrap. Thank you for tuning in for over 8 great years. @donlemon will see you in the mornings! pic.twitter.com/WfJlSl8PcO

Prior to Lemon’s removal from his show and Brian Stelter’s departure from the network CEO of CNN said in a statement from The Hollywood Reporter, “I want to acknowledge that this is a time of significant change, and I know that many of you are unsettled. There will be more changes, and you might not understand it or like it.”
The network’s abrupt changes have caused many employees and hosts to worry about their long-term tenure with CNN.
