On Saturday night, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was booed at a New York City Music Festival as Pelosi tried to surprise the audience at the event.
At the Global Citizen’s music festival in Central Park, the California Democrat took the stage wearing a white pantsuit with a matching scarf, the ensuing boos went viral all over social media.
Performers like The Jonas Brothers, Mariah Carey, and Metallica supported the festival, which has been organized in the city annually since 2012 by the Global Poverty Project. Global Poverty Project was founded in 2008 to help end extreme poverty in many parts of the world.
The speaker took the stage to give what sounded like a campaign speech about climate change and cutting carbon emissions.

“As the Speaker of the House, I am here to thank you for your dazzling advocacy, entrepreneurial thinking, and determination as global citizens,” she told the crowd.
“It’s thanks to your help that the United States recently enacted historic climate legislation, which will be a game changer,” as boos swirled, she continued. “It will slash carbon pollution by 40% by 2030, it will give a historic, an historic $370 billion to fight the climate crisis.”
Pelosi powered through chants of “let’s go” to move on, saying that the legislation would lead to “better water and air for our children” and “better-paying jobs and lower energy bills for their parents”.
To end her speech, Pelosi said that her grandchildren Paul and Thomas were in the crowd and that she had pledged to keep her time on stage short so they could get back to the music.
Pelosi’s Democrats confront polls that speak to a political downward spiral. The latest ABC News/Washington Post survey shows President Joe Biden’s approval rating stuck below 40% and indicated Republicans still have the Congressional lead in the midterms.
“She has to go,” one senior Democrat said. “No way she can stay,” added another long-time House Democrat. “She doesn’t have the votes,” another veteran Democrat said, as in private Pelosi supporters face the reality of her end coming.
“I’ve always felt we need new leadership,” Michigan Rep. Elissa Slotkin said. “I also understand that leaders don’t – no leader I’ve ever worked with – says that they’re leaving long, long before they actually leave because you lose all your power.”
