On Thursday, television icon Oprah Winfrey, officially endorsed Democrat John Fetterman in his Pennsylvania Senate Race against former TV Star Dr. Mehmet Oz. Winfrey and Dr. Oz appeared on shows together multiple times throughout the years.
“[At the beginning of the midterm campaigns,] I said it was up to the citizens of Pennsylvania, but I will tell you all this — if I lived in Pennsylvania, I would’ve already cast my vote for John Fetterman, for many reasons,” Winfrey said.
The connection between Winfrey and Oz came as he was the health expert on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” years ago before he got his own talk show in 2009. His show was even produced by Oprah’s production company Harpo.
I have a message for Obama and Oprah, stop telling me how to Vote! I’m black and I will not be voting Democrat!

Fetterman responded to the support from Oprah saying, “She is a leader on so many issues — fighting for our democracy, passing common-sense gun reform, and ensuring racial justice.”
This support is seen as a backstab by many on the right for the two’s long-time friendship. Kid Rock even tweeted a response Thursday saying, “Oprah helped Dr. Oz with his career. I assume because she vetted him and found him to be a wonderful person. Now she is against him. Oprah is a fraud. -Kid Rock.”

In the latest poll by abc27/Emerson College/The Hill, Oz still holds a 2-point lead (47% to 45%) over Fetterman. It is yet to be seen how Winfrey’s endorsement will affect the black vote Fetterman needs to win.
This midterm race is also a crucial catalyst for the Senate Majority as if the Democrats have any hopes of retaining the chamber they need this Fetterman win.
I have just one question for PA voters: are you happy with the direction the country is headed? If you aren’t, vote for change and balance in Washington on Tuesday! 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/yIIn2bHkPs

Oz is staying on brand during this endorsement, focusing on message, campaign speeches and speaking against Fetterman’s policy perspective. Oz’s campaign is tweeting and speaking about lowering gas prices and crime rates.
