Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter has already resulted in major changes to the social media platform.
The new CEO has fired the previous CEO in Parag Agrawal along with CFO Ned Segal and Chief Legal Counsel Vijaya Gadde.
It’s not only the staff that has changed though.
Musk’s new policies have limited Twitter employees’ use of content moderation in terms of suspending and banning accounts but one of the biggest changes thus far is the fact checking system on the social media platform.
Of all users, it is tweets from the White House and President Biden that are being fact checked.

A tweet from the President said, “Let me give you the facts. In 2020, 55 corporations made $40 billion. And they paid zero in federal taxes. My Inflation Reduction Act puts an end to this.”
These claims are completely false as Twitter fact checkers responded to Biden’s tweet saying, “Out of the 55 corporations the tweet referenced only 14 had earnings greater than $1 billion and would be eligible under Biden’s tax law.”
Amazing! Elon bought twitter and now Biden is getting fact checked by users. pic.twitter.com/MLD9QFL2YY

While this is one of the first instances of Biden being fact checked by Musk-run Twitter, it isn’t the first time he has disseminated false information to the public.
During a speech in Syracuse, New York Biden claimed, “Today, the most common price of gas in America is $3.39, down from over $5 when I took office.”
Snopes debunked this claim tweeting that “While speaking in Syracuse, New York, Biden said, ‘Today, the most common price of gas in America is $3.39, down from over $5 when I took office.’ Both of these figures were false.”
